2016 celebrates William Shakespeare, writer of over 37 plays and 134 poems.
Many of Shakespeare's plays have been made in to or have influenced films, so to mark the 400th anniversary, IFI and British Council are screening a whole month of Shakespeare films, including a screening and workshop at the IFI Family Festival:

Get your Shakespeare on with writer and co-director of Big Smoke Writing Factory, Claire Hennessy. In this fun and practical workshop, participants will think about story, character and dialogue and develop a short script of their own, updating one of Shakespeare’s stories for a modern audience.
